10 Miyake-jima Island, Japan
Believe it or not but the people living here need to carry gas masks on them at all times. The island is extremely close to Mt Oyama which is an active volcano that can spew flames and toxic gas at any time. At odd times of night or day it isn’t an uncommon occurrence for sirens to go blaring warning of a volcano blast and toxic fumes.
In 2000 the volcano venomously erupted in its worst possible eruption releasing 10,000 -20,000 tons of sulfuric dioxide every day. The island was almost uninhabitable and the local population had to be evacuated.
9 Chefchaouen, Morocco
Located in the northeast of Morocco, this amazing tourist attraction has all its streets and houses painted blue. It was painted by Jewish population who resided there in the 1930’s. Chefchaouen has around 200 hotels as it attracts a huge influx of European tourists.
