The Mysterious Cellphone That Placed Calls To This Man’s Fiancée Despite the Fact That He Was Dead
Sometimes life plays strange games with people as in the case of Charles E Peck 49 who died in the horrible Chatsworth Train crash of 2008 in the San Fernando Valley of California. Despite of hid demise, his phone placed calls to his fiancée. It was regarded as a mysterious and strange incident at the time.
Peck a customer service agent for Delta Airlines was travelling to LA for a job interview at the Van Nuys Airport. He was also intending to propose to his fiancée from Westlake Village. Tragedy struck when the train carrying Peck collided with a freight train running at a speed of 83mph.
1 25 people died and 135 were injured in the Chatsworth train crash
The Chatsworth train accident was one of the worst train crashes in the history of California. It took 250 fire department personnel, 200 police officers and rescue workers to pull survivors out of the wreckage which claimed 25 lives injuring more than 135.
Eric Forbes 56 an administrator described how everything seemed to happen in a flash even as he watched in horror at the freight train coming straight for them. The driver failed to stop at the stop signals that lead to the accident.
2 The NTSB believes that text messaging was to blame
According to the NTSB or National Transportation safety Board and reports confirmed by two teenagers, the biggest reason for the crash was that the driver had been texting before the crash. The phone records of two tens who claimed they had received texts form the driver because they wanted information about his work turned out to be true. The drivers cell phone confirmed he had sent a text 22 seconds before the crash.
3 The mystery about Charles Peck’s phone
When Becks fiancée, Andrea Katz learnt about the incident, she went to meet his siblings and parents. Moments before the incident they had all received 35 calls from Charles phone but could not hear anything because of static. Thus led them to believe that he was alive. Throughout the night, the family received calls from Becks phone including his fiancé, rents, brother, his son from an earlier marriage and his sister. However when they tried calling back, they were redirected to his voice mail.
4 Search crews located the phones signal but couldn’t find the phone
It was the rescue team who picked up his cell phone signal and located its origins among the wreckage. One hour after the calls had stopped, they found Beck’s body but what sis strange is the fact that his cellphone could never be retrieved. It is still an unsolved mystery as to how the phone placed calls to his fiancé and family even though he was already dead.
